I’m Bri Camille, Ambassador of Elk Grove Swap Society. I'm a mother and marketing consultant - being someone that works from home and wanted to extend my local reach, I decided to transform my front room into a warm, inviting storefront where neighbors can trade high-quality, stylish pieces, build friendships, and choose a more sustainable way to shop. I believe circular fashion should be accessible, fun, and community-driven.
Can you introduce your space and what makes it special to the community?
I turned my front room into a cozy storefront for Elk Grove Swap Society. It’s a welcoming place to discover fun fashion finds, meet neighbors, and build lasting local connections—like a living room for locals, laughter and looking good.
What inspired you to partner with us for this clothing swap initiative?
After attending Sacramento swaps for months, I fell in love with the variety of styles, the people, and Miriam’s passion for sustainability and community. I wanted to bring that energy home to Elk Grove and create a local hub for circular fashion.
How does sustainability play a role in your space, business, or community efforts?
Sustainability guides a lot of what we do: as it pertains to the swaps, we divert wearable clothing from landfills, extend garment life through swapping, and make fashion mindful, fun and affordable so more people can participate in reducing waste.
Why do you think clothing swaps or circular fashion are important for the community?
Affordability and quality. Many buy fast fashion because it’s affordable, but the garments don’t always last. The Swap Society offers higher-quality finds at accessible prices—through a membership or single-event ticket—so people can dress well without costing their wallet or the planet.
Have you noticed any changes in how your community approaches sustainability or conscious consumption?
We’re just getting started locally, but early signs are promising: friends and family eagerly donated items, helping us grow from about 50 pieces to over 200 before our grand opening. That willingness to share is a great first step!
How do you approach styling?
Have fun and be fearless. Prioritize comfort, then experiment—mix textures, prints, and unexpected combos. Wear what makes you feel alive; attention from others is often admiration and inspiration, not judgment.
What advice would you give people looking to refresh their wardrobe through secondhand or swapped pieces?
Be intentional. Clean out your closet regularly, bring multiple pieces to swap, and hunt for select items that serve a purpose. Quality over quantity—choose pieces you’ll wear, alter if needed, and build a thoughtful wardrobe.
What’s one simple tip you’d share to encourage more sustainable habits locally?
Pause before you purchase. Ask: Do I need this? Will I use it? Will I wear it enough? Choosing more intentionally helps your wallet, your closet, and the planet.
