Tell us a little about Heirloom by Deya and what inspired you to start your photography business.
Heirloom by Deya was created from my love for capturing the moments we never want to forget. As a mom of two, I’ve realized just how quickly seasons of life pass, and how special it is to have photographs that allow us to go back and feel those moments again. I wanted to create a photography business centered around real connection, love, and storytelling—whether I’m capturing motherhood, families, couples, newborns, milestones, or a small business owner stepping into their purpose. My goal is for every gallery to feel like an heirloom: something you’ll look back on years from now and still feel the love behind it.
What do you love most about photography, and how do you hope your work helps people preserve meaningful moments?
What I love most is capturing people as they truly are. I love the little in-between moments—the laughs, the way a mom looks at her baby, the connection between a couple, or the confidence someone feels while celebrating a new chapter. Life moves so quickly, and photographs give us something tangible to hold onto. I want my clients to look at their photos years from now and remember not only what that season looked like, but what it felt like.

As a photographer and entrepreneur, what does building community mean to you, and how do you hope your business contributes to it?
Community means supporting, encouraging, and creating space for one another. As a Latina, a mom, and a new entrepreneur, I know how meaningful it can be to feel seen and supported while pursuing something that matters to you. I want Heirloom by Deya to be more than just a photography business. I hope it becomes a way for me to connect with families, mothers, creatives, and other local businesses while celebrating their stories. I truly believe there is room for all of us to grow and succeed, and I want my business to reflect that by creating genuine connections, collaborating with others, and making people feel celebrated exactly as they are.
Through Heirloom by Deya, Deya is creating more than beautiful photographs—she’s creating a way for people to hold onto the moments, connections, and seasons of life that matter most.
